Open a faucet in the house to make sure you turn off the water completely before proceeding. Remove the water control lever loosening the screw anchor, which is either under a plastic cap of the handle. Pull the handle of the faucet assembly.

Remove adapter parts including metal washer in the valve stem. Remove the retaining clip on the side of the valve cartridge, if one is present, with a screwdriver. Rotate the cartridge from the water pipe using a pair of pliers if the cartridge is jammed. Insert a key seat on the water line and turn counterclockwise to remove the seat. Remove the screws holding the back plate of the faucet to the shower wall, and then remove the back plate. Install single handle shower faucet with new faucet.
